Insight into our partner network and sponsorship packages.

Dear interested parties

The Lions Racing Team is the official Formula Student team of Technische Universität Braunschweig. Founded in 2000, more than 70 dedicated students design, build, and race an electric racing car from scratch every year — competing at international events such as Formula Student Germany at Hockenheimring.

As a sponsor of Lions Racing, you become part of a project that uniquely combines engineering excellence with motorsport passion. You are not buying advertising space — you are investing in the next generation of engineers, gaining direct access to highly qualified students from more than 25 degree programmes, and positioning your company as an innovative partner of TU Braunschweig.

What your sponsorship enables:

25+ years of experience: Lions Racing is one of the oldest active Formula Student teams in Germany — founded at TU Braunschweig in 2000 and over 80 Students from more than 25 degree programmes, 6 faculties, and 3 universities

International competitions: Formula Student Germany (Hockenheimring), Formula Student Austria and further events worldwide.

Electric racing car: 600 V high-voltage system, 80 kW, 0–100 km/h in approx. 4 seconds — 100% designed and built by students.

Our team

Electronics

This module is responsible for the development of the vehicle's powertrain. In addition, all other electronic components fall within the scope of this module.

Suspension & Powertrain

In addition to the rims and tires, driving dynamics essentially deals with the design of a chassis, the independent development of a planetary gear, the braking and steering system and the development of wheel carriers.

Chassis

The central component of the chassis module is of course the monocoque, but the battery container, firewall or impact attenuator are also the responsibility of this module.

Operations & Marketing

Of course, the main task in marketing is advertising, but event organization, recruiting and the increasingly important task of social media are also located here.

Aerodynamics

As the name suggests, this module takes care of the aerodynamic components of our vehicle. Not only do we want to generate downforce here, we also want to supply the radiators.

Autonomous System & Performance

Driverless, which means driverless, implements an autonomous system and thus a self-driving car. This module is primarily characterized by software development.

What you gain as a Lions Racing sponsor

Marketing & visibility

Your logo on our racing car travels to international Formula Student events and appears on our website, roll-up banner, and on team clothing. Through social media, press coverage, and the annual car reveal, you reach a technically-minded audience far beyond the TU Braunschweig campus.

Recruiting & access to top talent

You gain direct contact with high-performing students from TU Braunschweig, HBK, and Ostfalia — future engineers, software developers, and project managers. Many of our alumni now work at leading companies in the automotive, aerospace, and technology sectors.

Technology transfer & innovation

Lions Racing operates at the intersection of electric mobility, autonomous driving, and lightweight construction — embedded within the Lower Saxony Research Centre for Vehicle Technology (NFF) at TU Braunschweig. As a sponsor, you gain exclusive insights and can actively shape projects.

Brand image & social responsibility

Your involvement demonstrates commitment to education, the development of young talent, and the mobility of tomorrow — strengthening your brand image with students, graduates, and the regional business community around Braunschweig.

The Technical University of Braunschweig stands for excellent research and teaching, knowledge and technology transfer. The Formula Student is an excellent project that makes a very impressive contribution to teaching and transfer.

Within the project, students have the opportunity to develop electric and autonomous racing cars together in a motivated and interdisciplinary team in addition to their courses. In addition, the members demonstrate a considerable degree of independence through their independent management and implementation of the project.

Through the numerous collaborations with institutes and partners from industry, our students gain valuable insights into research and business, and the supporting companies can also establish a direct line to the aspiring engineers.

The Lions Racing Team deserves recognition for their achievements and for the great commitment that they bring in alongside their studies. We are excited every year when he comes to the presentation of a new vehicle and look forward to many more successful years.

“We are proud to be able to support such a motivated team at our university”
Professor Dr. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla,  Chairwoman of the board of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), former president of the TU Braunschweig

Formula Student

Formula Student is the world's largest design competition for students. Every year, students develop, design and build a racing vehicle and use it to compete against other universities at various events.

The first Formula Student competition took place in 1981 in Michigan, USA. The first competition in Europe was held in 1998. There are now many different events all over the world. The Formula Student Germany, which has been held at the Hockenheimring since 2006, has developed into the most important event of its kind.

The competition is characterized by innovation, which has been particularly evident in recent years with the introduction of autonomous disciplines. From 2024, Formula Student Germany will now rely entirely on electrically powered vehicles. The driverless disciplines are also becoming increasingly mandatory and are therefore groundbreaking for the future of Formula Student. In order to be able to participate in these developments at an early stage, we started working on our autonomous systems in 2019.

However, to win you don't just have to drive fast. Non-technical qualities and knowledge of the development of racing vehicles are also in demand. Be it as a business plan, engineering design or as a cost & Manufacturing Report.
